It's a shame that you didn't pass the ZAP1, even though you put in a lot of time. But it's not the end of the world, because Switzerland offers so many opportunities to obtain a maturity diploma. Overview of the Swiss education system<\/h2>\n

Alternative: secondary school and short-term Gymnasium<\/h2>\n

Are you trying to transfer from the sixth grade of a primary school to a long-term secondary school, but it hasn't worked out? Then the most sensible alternative is to enter secondary school<\/strong>. After two years at secondary level, you have the option of taking a ZAP2 exam to enter the short-term Gymnasium<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Vocational baccalaureate and university of applied sciences<\/h2>\n

Failing this exam again does not mean the end of the road to obtaining a maturity diploma. Students have the option of completing the third stage of secondary education and then either starting basic vocational training (apprenticeship) with BMS (Berufsmittelschule)<\/strong> or looking for a place at FMS (Fachmittelschule)<\/strong>. Both the FMS and the BMS require an entrance exam. The BMS<\/strong> can also be added on after completing vocational training<\/strong> and can be completed in one year. Both qualifications, the BMS and the FMS, enable your child to enroll at a university of applied sciences or, depending on the FMS qualification, at a university of teacher education<\/strong> (PH).<\/p>\n

Teacher training college and university<\/h2>\n

However, anyone wishing to study at a university<\/strong> (UH) or university of teacher education<\/strong> (PH) with an FMS or BMS degree must complete a passerelle<\/strong>. This course takes place over two semesters on a full-time basis and, upon successful completion, qualifies students to study at a UH or PH. You can obtain a Bachelor's and Master's degree<\/strong> at the UAS, UH and PH<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Options without Matura<\/h2>\n

An apprenticeship also provides a good education. Those who do not complete a BMS or FMS but would still like to continue their education can do so while working at an HF (H\u00f6here Fachschule).<\/strong> These colleges offer courses for suitable professions.<\/p>\n
