Long-Term Gymnasium Course ZAP Preparation for the Gymnasium Entrance Exam – Starts in November 2026 for 6th Grade, Part 2

This course follows on from the long-term Gymnasium course ZAP preparation for Gymnasium examination I – starting in August 2025 for 6th grade – and consolidates what has been learned while supplementing knowledge for the ZAP. The course focuses on preparing for various types of exam questions and applying solution strategies to particularly difficult tasks. The exam material is practiced diligently in the course and learning progress is continuously monitored.

Short-Term Gymnasium Course ZAP Preparation for the 2026 Gymnasium Entrance Exam for 2nd Secondary Level Students

Part I starting in August, Part II starting in November. Courses I and II do not differ in content.

In this course, we will concentrate specifically on preparing for the short-term Gymnasium. The focus will be on the core subjects of German and mathematics. In German lessons, we train text comprehension, expand basic grammatical knowledge and systematically practise writing essays in various forms. In mathematics, we delve deeper into key topics such as term formations and calculations in algebra, geometry and challenging text problems. Particular attention is paid to mastering the core skills so that you can meet the requirements at the highest performance level. In addition, we practise dealing with typical exam tasks and formats in order to prepare you optimally for the entrance exam to the short-term Gymnasium.

Exam simulation for long and short high school programs

Especially when you’ve been preparing for an exam for so long, it’s important to practice under time pressure and in a realistic setting. In our exclusive mock exam, students can get a sense of their current level of knowledge. We develop a completely new exam based on the current exam regulations of the Canton of Zurich (ZAP Regulations 2026/2027). The exam is thoroughly graded, scored, and accompanied by written feedback.

In addition, the results of the gynasium mock exam and the remaining exam preparation will then be discussed in person with a teacher.

The mock exam for the 2027 ZAP entrance exam will take place in Küsnacht or Zurich.

Course content for long-term gymnasium

In-depth study of exam-relevant material from 6th grade, in particular decimal numbers, fractions, proportionality, and word problems in mathematics, as well as reading comprehension, essay writing, and basic grammar in German. Comprehensive revision and ZAP exams under time pressure, including tactics. Comprehensive revision of short-term secondary school material and ZAP exams.

Course content for short-term gymnasium:

In-depth study of exam-relevant material from the second secondary level, in particular equations, fractions, proportionality, and word problems in mathematics, as well as text comprehension, essay writing, and basic grammar in German. Comprehensive review of short-term secondary school material and solving ZAP exams under time pressure, including tactics.

Preparatory course for Gymnasium (academic high school), 5th grade

In the preparatory course for 5th grade, relevant topics are already taught, preparing students for the upcoming entrance exam for Gymnasium (academic high school). This course aims to give your child a head start and ensure they have mastered the fundamental topics required for the Gymnasium entrance exam.

German:

In German class, the focus is on reading comprehension and essay writing. Reading comprehension emphasizes extracting the correct information from the text and incorporating it into the answers. Essay writing focuses on practicing essay structure and writing essays on various topics. Spelling, grammar, and vocabulary will round out the program.

Mathematics:

In mathematics, the focus will be on deepening the understanding of basic arithmetic operations and fractions. More complex topics such as word problems, proportionality, brain teasers, and geometric problems will also be covered.

Preparatory Course for Gymnasium 1st Secondary Level: ZAP Preparation for the Gymnasium Entrance Exam for the 2nd Secondary Level (Short-Term Gymnasium)

In the preparatory course for the 1st secondary school level, topics relevant to the short-term gymnasium program are introduced early on to optimally prepare your child for the upcoming ZAP exam in the 8th grade or the 2nd secondary school level. This course provides a valuable head start and ensures that your child can meet the demanding requirements of the entrance exam at the highest level of performance.

German

In German class, we focus specifically on the three pillars of the exam:

• Textverständnis: Wir trainieren das präzise Analysieren von Texten, damit die richtigen Informationen fehlerfrei entnommen und präzise in die Antworten integriert werden.
