In order to prepare adequately for the ZAP, it may be useful to study old exams.
Why look at old exams?
Looking at old exams can give you an insight into what is asked in the exams and how, but also how the exams are structured. This way, you can avoid surprises or feeling overwhelmed on the day of the exam. The exam day itself is exciting enough, so removing one component, such as what the exam looks like, can help you approach the exam situation in a more relaxed manner. It can also show you your current level of knowledge. This allows you to discuss which topics need to be looked at in more detail during your further preparation and where you have already made progress.

What are exam simulations?
It is also important not to just solve the old exams partially, but to do a full exam simulation. In this simulation, you simulate an exam situation as you will experience it in the ZAP. For example, you take 45 minutes and complete the German part I text comprehension and language test once.
Why use exam simulations?
This will help you determine whether you have enough time and how you will cope in this exam situation. You will avoid being surprised by the time or the new situation during the actual entrance exam.
What should you pay attention to?
Since many people prepare for the ZAP using old exams, it can be useful to work with similar exams that are similar to the ZAP but are not old exams. This way, you avoid repeating tasks that you already know. It makes more sense to take exams that you are not familiar with. This way, you keep learning new things and can better measure your progress.
